MEN’S MINISTRIES

1) Men’s Prayer Breakfast:
On the first Saturday of each month, several of the men of LBC men set aside some time (from 8:30 to about 10:30am) for a challenge from the Bible, some time in prayer, and a great breakfast. Sometimes we go out to a restaurant, and sometimes on of the folks from the church will cook a fabulous meal. This combination of spiritual food - through scripture, prayer, and fellowship - and physical food is a great treat.

2) Men’s Bible Study:
Coming Soon!! In the very near future we will be announcing the start up of a new ministry for men here at LBC. This Bible Study is going to be designed to accomplish three goals: 1) To strengthen men with very targeted and concentrated Bible Study topics that are chosen by the men, apply to the men’s lives, and that the men can get involved in discussing together. 2) To strengthen men’s friendships within the church family. Life is busy. We all know this. So we feel it is important that part of the time spent at this new Bible Study is taken for just plain old fun and chat time over some coffee and donuts or a good game. Men don’t connect by sitting and talking about what they feel. They connect by taking each other in in some ping pong, soccer, etc, and having a chance to show each other respect. 3) To provide accountability. Men have issues. Every one of us struggles with purity of mind and heart, and every one of us struggle with pride (among other things). We need to hear how each other’s weeks have been going and share targeted prayer requests that will help us to watch out for each other and point each other in the right direction.

3) Discipleship:
II Timothy 2:2 says, And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. With our new discipleship course (The Lantern), we are attempting to shift to focus of our ministry to a strong emphasis on discipleship. The church leadership wants to invest heavily in a group of mature men in the church family, who will then be able to invest in others, who will be able to pass that investment on to others, and so on. While this ministry isn’t a clear structure with a weekly or monthly time that is the same for all involved, you can still count on being mentored as we unfold this plan across the ministry of the coming months and years.

4) Annual WCBF Men’s Retreat:
Each year (usually the third or fourth weekend in October), the men from churches all across the Western Canada Baptist Fellowship will get together for a three day retreat designed to offer great fellowship, solid preaching targeted at men’s issues, and fun and games. This retreat is a highlight for many of our men who enjoy being challenged by God’s Word to be a man that pleases God in all areas of life.

5) Other:
Other church events and ministries that men can get involved in range widely. They can join the Christmas choir, attend Youth-College-and-Career (if under 25 years old or so), join our general church fellowship groups, serve as ushers/greeters, help with setup and takedown for services and events, and much, much more. If you are a man, and you are looking to express praise and gratitude to your Lord and Saviour for saving you, we can plug you in to an area of service.
